Laughter Is The Best Medicine!!!
“LAUGHTER IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST FORM OF
THERAPY”
-
Audrey
Hepburn
(British Actress)
So why is it said
that laughter is the best medicine?
Modern life has become way too complicated and its
believed that stress is the chief obstacle to laughter. Laughter is the
physical expression of happiness, humour and joy that has countless protective
qualities. Laughter is one of the best ways to relieve your stress and also
plays an important role in developing resilience and improving psychological
sturdiness as it has a strong connection with happiness. If we talk from the
biological perspective then Laughter plays a key role in reducing the blood
sugar level, restoring the memory, stimulate organs, improves immune system
etc...(Psychiataric times)
Laughing your heart out enhances your intake of
oxygen-rich air which stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles (Mayo
clinic). Cherry on top, laughing increases your hormone named “endorphins”
that are released by your brain.
So the
best way to bring laughter and absurdity to your life is to follow these simple
steps:
SMILE – The best way to start
laughing is to first learn how to smile heart fully leaving your false ego
behind. Smiling is contagious so the small curves at the end of our lips change
the world.
SPENDING TIME WITH WISECRACK PEOPLE
– These are the people who laugh easily at themselves and their life's
absurdities. So hanging out with such people might help one to laugh out loud
BRINGING HUMOROUS SITUATIONS IN A
RANDOM CONVERSATIONS – One can ask what was the funniest thing that has
happened in their life till now and can also share a few funny events from our
side too.
LAUGHING AT OURSELF – Remembering
some of the embarrassing and ludicrous events can bring happy moments in one’s
life.
ATTEMPTING TO LAUGH AT SOME EASE
SITUATIONS THAN BEMOAN OR COMPLAINING ABOUT THEM.
PAYING HEED TO CHILDREN AND
EMULATING THEM.
30
minutes of laughing exercise for 21 days might be hard at first but will
eventually become a habit from the 22nd day…
“Habit is not by birth, it has to be
cultivated”.
Let me
end this topic with a shaggy-dog story...
Once an
old man went to a barber, having only 10 hair on his head. He was being ignored
by the barber for a long time now. The old man went near the barber to ask him
for a favor. The barber questioned the old man angrily “should I cut it or
count it?”. The old man laughed hard and said “color it”.
Life is
there to enjoy not to complain. Always remember these words of Charlie Chaplin…
“A Day Without Laugh Is A Day
Wasted”
Aiana…
